How the Clerk works

The software does the work. Your team approves it.

Most legal software is a place to store work. Clerkly is built around an agent that does it — then hands it to your team for judgment.

  1. 01

    The Clerk proposes

It drafts the records request, the follow-up, the chronology, the demand. It flags deadlines and conflicts. Every fact it uses links back to the source page.

  2. 02

    The right person reviews

Work lands in a daily queue for whoever owns it — case manager, intake lead, or attorney. Edit it, approve it, or send it back.

  3. 03

    Nothing moves without approval

Letters, demands, and client updates don’t leave the firm until a person signs off. Deadlines aren’t live until an attorney confirms them.

What the Clerk never does

  • Give legal advice
  • Value a case or predict an outcome
  • Send anything without human approval
  • Train on your firm’s or clients’ data

Built for personal injury

From first call to demand, around the PI case lifecycle.

Not a generalist tool with AI bolted on. Not a point solution you still have to stitch together. One system for how PI firms actually work.

  • Intake

    Sign good cases faster

AI intake chat in English and Spanish, a conflict check on every new matter, and e-signature for retainers.

  • Records

Records requests that follow up on their own

The Clerk drafts each request and schedules follow-ups, so your case managers stop chasing providers by hand.

  • Chronology

    Medical chronologies with page citations

Treatment timelines built from the records you receive. Every entry links to the page it came from.

  • Demand

    Demand drafts in minutes

A first draft assembled from the approved chronology and case facts — ready for attorney edits, not a blank page.

  • Deadlines

    Deadlines confirmed by attorneys

Proposed dates require attorney confirmation. Alerts escalate as they approach. Ethical walls keep matters separated.

  • Client portal

    Clients who stay informed

A secure, bilingual portal with plain-language status updates — fewer “any news on my case?” calls.

  • Migration

    Switch without the pain

In-app migration from Clio and spreadsheet exports, with a deadline review before anything goes live.

Filevine and CASEpeer importers coming in 2027

Toward getting every client paid faster

On our roadmap, shaped with our founding firms:

    • Trust accounting
    • Settlement disbursement
    • SMS updates

Secure by design

Built for software that touches client files, medical records, and deadlines.

You're trusting us with your clients. We take that seriously from the first line of code, not after the first incident.

  • Medical records handled to HIPAA standards

Client medical information is treated as protected health information from intake onward.

  • Encrypted data

Case files and records are encrypted in transit and at rest.

  • Full audit trails

Every proposal, edit, and approval is logged — who did what, and when.

  • No training on your data

Your firm’s and your clients’ information is never used to train AI models.

  • Ethical walls & conflict checks

Conflict checks on every case and walls that restrict access to screened matters.

  • SOC 2 as a target

We are building toward SOC 2 and will share our progress openly with our founding firms.

A note from the founder

Personal injury work is about people who've been hurt. Yet much of a PI team's day goes to chasing records, re-keying dates, and answering the same status question again.

I've spent my career building payments technology and regulated software, where accuracy and audit trails aren't optional. Clerkly applies that discipline to PI: let software do the operational work, and keep lawyers firmly in charge of every decision.

Questions

Straight answers.

Does the Clerk give legal advice or value cases?

No. The Clerk drafts and proposes operational work — requests, chronologies, demand drafts, deadline suggestions. Attorneys review and approve. It does not give legal advice, value cases, or predict outcomes.

Can the Clerk send anything on its own?

No. Letters, demands, and client updates require approval from the right person on your team before they leave the firm. Proposed deadlines aren’t active until an attorney confirms them.

Is our data used to train AI models?

No. Your firm’s and your clients’ data is never used to train AI models.

We use Clio today. How hard is it to switch?

Clerkly includes in-app migration from Clio and from spreadsheet exports, with a deadline review step before anything goes live. Filevine and CASEpeer importers are coming in 2027.

What does the Founding Firm Program cost?

Nothing to join. Founding firms get 12 months of Clerkly free, then a discounted founding rate they keep for as long as they stay on our advisory board.
